”And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.“
1 Kings 19:1-3 KJV
Fear caused Elijah to totally forget what GOD had just done for him in front of a group of people who absolutely hated him. Fear caused Elijah to run for his very life after he was threatened by Jezebel who put a hit out on him, even after he had just witnessed the power of the GOD he served. Fear caused Elijah to even go as far as to ask the LORD to take his life.. his reason, because he felt like he was standing alone after all of the other prophets during his time had been killed. Fear caused Elijah to go hide in a cave.. that is until the LORD called him out and sent him on his way.
Has anyone or anything ever caused you to take an Elijah approach, avoiding them or running from a problem instead of facing the situation? Has whoever and whatever it may be or has been caused you to stop looking to the hills (up to the LORD in prayer with unwavering faith) where all of your help comes from?
”I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, Which made heaven and earth.“
Psalm 121:1-2 KJV
”He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.“
Psalm 121:3-4 KJV
Our GOD never sleeps, so if He kept the Children of Israel through all of the battles they faced, won’t He also do the same for us?
”The LORD is thy keeper: The LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, Nor the moon by night.“
Psalm 121:5-6 KJV
The Scriptures say that there is nothing of this World that He will not protect us from.. if we trust that His promises are true.
Final Thought: ”The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in From this time forth, and even for evermore.“
Psalm 121:7-8 KJV
Our LORD WILL shield us from all evil, sicknesses, diseases, heartaches, pains in His Timing and in His Will as He extends the His mercy over us day after day while we go about our daily tasks and schedules. Will you trust Him, obey Him, follow His lead and allow Him to fill you and keep you filled with His Spirit until the day that JESUS CHRIST returns?
